Dear Fellow Golfers:
First and foremost, I hope that this letter finds you well and that you continue to take precaut ions to protect yourself and your family. This is an unprecedented time in our nation and if we all do our part in preventing the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus, we will make it through and have many more rounds of golf.
I received many comments from our members last year about the differing yardages at the courses for the divisions and the fact that not everyone played the same course for their point quota rounds. We hear you and at the January Board meeting these issues were discussed. A matrix is being developed to act as a guide for each of the Tournament Manager to guide them in selecting the right tee box and yardage for their divisions. They have been instructed to contact the individual golf courses to work with their staff in ensuring we have the proper yardage for
For the 2020 schedule, you will note that we have included eleven (11) tournaments for each division and that the point quota events are all played on the same courses. Unfortunately, we were not able to hold our yearly kick-off meeting prior to the season beginning. In an email I sent out earlier, I relayed this information and asked that everyone mail in their membership and tournament fees so that our records can be updated, and tee times set up for the first matches. Membership cards for the 2020 season are being mailed out to everyone.
As always, I would like to thank our sponsors and encourage our membership to keep them in mind when possible. Tee Time Golf Passbook has agreed to become a sponsoring partner with SSGOA and originally planned to sell the books at a discounted rate at the kick-off meeting. Since we had to cancel that meeting, they will take orders for the books over the telephone (800-444-9203) and ask that you identify yourself as a SSGOA member so you can get
the discounted price and the organization get credit for the sale. In addition, there is a limited number of free vouchers that they will send with the books that are valid for one (1) free green fee (Golf cart required) at the following northeast Ohio courses: Zoar, Mohican Hills, Shale Creek, Chardon Lakes, and Punderson. We will also have a supply of the TeeTime pass books available for the $45 price at our early tournaments.
As an effort to improve the operation our organization, we have added the ability to take credit cards at the golf courses to facilitate the signing up for the next events. At the present time we can not take credit card information over the telephone or through the mail. We have also updated the SSGOA website to ease its use for everyone.
And finally, we are always in need of volunteers to help run our events. If you are interested, please contact one of the Board members or me.
